Job Description
PatientPoint is a digital health company that delivers behavior-changing health content inside physician offices, reaching patients across the United States. Its Platform team builds and operates the cloud infrastructure that the company's engineers rely on to release patient-facing and clinician-facing products. This Staff Platform Engineer role is a senior individual contributor position focused on technical problems that span several systems and teams.
The engineer converts loosely defined aims, such as safer releases or fewer overnight alerts, into multi-quarter programs and carries them to completion. The job sets the technical course for much of the platform via design docs and decision logs, and secures buy-in from engineering and security leaders. Responsibilities also include defining reliability targets for platform services, designing alerting and on-call rotations that reach the right responders, and ordering risky changes across connected systems so one repair does not damage another.
The engineer remains hands-on for the most important changes and helps senior engineers grow through design reviews and coaching. Deciding what the team should tackle next, and justifying that choice with cost and risk estimates, is also part of the role.
The posting asks for five or more years in software, cloud, infrastructure, reliability, systems administration, DevOps or platform work, and deep experience running production cloud systems, containers and delivery pipelines with infrastructure as code. The base salary band is USD 136,880 to 210,891. The listing is marked remote within the United States and mentions travel two to four times a year.
Responsibilities
- Run multi-quarter programs that cut across cloud accounts, delivery pipelines, identity and artifact storage.
- Chart the technical path for much of the platform with design docs and decision logs.
- Establish reliability targets, alerting standards and on-call designs for the platform's services.
- Order risky changes across linked systems, including how reliability work from the SRE team reaches production safely.
- Decide what the team builds next, and justify the choice with cost and risk.
- Mentor senior engineers through design reviews, and stay hands-on for the riskiest changes.
Requirements
- Five-plus years in software work, cloud or infrastructure builds, systems or network administration, SRE, DevOps or platform roles.
- Deep, hands-on experience running production cloud infrastructure, containers and delivery pipelines on AWS, Kubernetes or similar, plus infrastructure as code.
- Experience driving a technical initiative that reached across several systems or groups, from proposal through delivery.
- Experience building for reliability and security: access models, safe deployments, observability and incident response.
- Ability to influence peers and leaders without formal authority.
- Technical writing that both engineers and non-engineers can act on.
- A bachelor's degree in a computing discipline or similar, or hands-on experience that equals it.
Qualifications
- Experience designing Kubernetes platforms such as EKS with GitOps, plus multi-account AWS setups with IAM and cross-account routing. Azure background would be an advantage.
- Experience hardening CI/CD using federated sign-in, temporary credentials, secret storage and supply-chain safeguards.
- Experience setting SLOs and designing alert strategy using tools such as New Relic or PagerDuty.
- Experience weighing build-versus-buy decisions and vendors in a regulated field such as healthcare, including HIPAA and SOC 2.
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive compensation and benefits for full-time team members.
- Flexible time off and hybrid work options.
- Resources supporting mental and emotional health.
- 401(k) plan.
