Job Description
This is a full-time, on-site Staff Product Designer role in London centred on motion. The position belongs to Studio Central, a recently created global product design group that shapes how the brand comes across inside products at Deliveroo, DoorDash, Wolt and 7Rooms. Collaboration with Marketing and Product colleagues is a regular feature.
The mission is to shift motion work toward a build-first way of working, with clear guidance on how branded moments should behave on customer, rider and merchant screens. The designer creates reusable motion frameworks, expression systems, libraries of animated components and AI-assisted tooling, so that designers in every brand can produce motion without depending on one specialist.
A large share of the job involves carrying early concepts for key brand moments into motion that is ready for production and runs in code. The posting names Lottie and dotLottie, CSS and JavaScript animation, and native transitions as typical outputs. The role also sets up critiques, routines and guidance so that motion becomes a recognised discipline, and it involves working with Product Design groups responsible for consumer, ads and promotions, rider, merchant and new verticals.
The posting suits a motion designer with systems-level experience who can operate both as an art director and as a hands-on maker. Prototyping in After Effects, Lottie or Rive is expected, and working prototypes are the preferred way to make the case for in-product motion. The role involves creating structure where little exists and testing new tools quickly.
Responsibilities
- Set the motion principles that govern branded moments across every product.
- Produce motion building blocks, including reusable component libraries and AI-driven tools, for designers in every brand.
- Set up critiques, routines and guidelines that let motion grow beyond a single person.
- Take key brand moments from concept through to code-ready motion.
- Work with Product Design groups for consumer, ads, rider, merchant and new verticals.
- Establish design standards for in-house teams, external agencies, Engineering and Marketing partners.
Requirements
- Background in motion and visual work at systems scale, including rolling out frameworks across several products or teams.
- Comfortable moving between art direction and making, with prototypes built in After Effects, Lottie or Rive.
- Ability to bring clarity to murky work via shipped prototypes and direct making.
- Experience creating frameworks, guidelines and operating models from nothing.
- Keen interest in new technology, approaching fresh tools as quick experiments.
