Spotify is hiring a Staff Product Designer - Platform Design to shape the experience strategy for its developer-focused products and internal tooling. Spotify develops infrastructure and frameworks that enable internal engineering teams to scale easily, and the company now shares these proven technologies with global developers and enterprises. In this role, the designer will combine product leadership with hands-on design and coding to transform internal engineering tools into commercial products that customers enjoy using.
This position suits a product design professional who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and has experience designing complex digital products for technical audiences. The candidate will establish a distinct visual language, build high-end user interfaces in code, and explore how generative AI and agentic tools can enhance design and development workflows. Working closely with product, marketing, and engineering partners, the designer will report to the Spotify Technology Design Director. The role is based in London, UK or Stockholm, Sweden, with the flexibility to work from home alongside some in-person meetings.
Responsibilities
- Guide complex design initiatives from early research phases through production, ensuring intuitive flows, interactions, and motion for developer tools.
- Define the visual identity of Spotify Technology to maintain consistency and craft across product experiences and brand touchpoints.
- Convert tools originally built for internal engineering teams into commercial products tailored for enterprise customers and developers.
- Implement high-quality front-end user interfaces in code, prioritizing accessibility, performance, and attention to detail.
- Establish experience strategy for the product area by collaborating with engineering and product leaders to direct priorities and roadmaps.
- Utilize prototypes, experimentation, and storytelling to visualize intricate concepts and build alignment among teams.
- Investigate the integration of generative AI and agentic tools to optimize workflows and design for both human and AI agent users.
- Promote design systems, inclusive experiences, and a collaborative team culture focused on continuous learning.
Requirements
- Demonstrated background in product design with a strong track record of creating complex digital products and delivering visual and interaction design.
- Capability to set broad strategic direction while remaining involved in execution, design details, and product delivery.
- Proficiency in building and deploying user interfaces using modern front-end technology stacks.
- Familiarity with developer tools, platform products, or enterprise software, including the nuances of designing for technical users.
- Experience applying generative AI and agentic tools with sound judgment in professional work.
