Job Description
This is a full-time, hybrid Staff Product Designer role in London, working inside the Retail group. Retail is a comparatively new frontier for the business, reaching past restaurant and grocery orders to include nearly any item that can be delivered locally. Much of the work is therefore about inventing shopping experiences that do not yet exist.
The designer helps chart the strategic course for retail delivery and decides the look and feel of each retail category and shopping format. The role leads strategic design sprints that establish the groundwork and delivery plan for a 2027 product vision. The designer also acts as a counterpart to Product, Engineering and business leaders when roadmap choices are made.
Craft quality carries a lot of weight. The designer lifts standards across the team through critique sessions and direct coaching, and takes on cross-platform problems such as accessibility, speed and visual consistency. Studio-wide efforts on design culture, hiring and the role of AI in design workflows are also part of the position.
The job suits a seasoned senior designer who has steered complicated, open-ended initiatives from first sketches to launch in a quick-moving technology setting. Being able to explain design thinking clearly, to engineers and executives alike, is essential. A practical grasp of how design choices affect code, system structure and engineering limits is expected.
