Deliveroo is currently seeking a Staff Product Designer to join the Ventures team in London on a full-time, on-site basis. Operating as part of DoorDash following a recent combination of teams, the organization focuses on transforming how people shop and eat by addressing complex marketplace challenges.
This position acts as the senior design voice for an early-stage product, guiding initiatives from initial concept through a test-market launch and preparing them for global scale. The Ventures team functions as an internal incubator, funding small, entrepreneurial groups that build Minimum Lovable Products and establish product-market fit in individual countries.
The role suits a practical designer with a startup mentality who thrives in ambiguous environments and prefers shipping quickly to learn over polishing in isolation. Candidates will establish design direction, master local market needs, and collaborate closely with product, engineering, operations, and commercial leaders. Responsibilities include shaping customer and partner experiences, building scalable foundations for intricate journeys such as payments and onboarding, and translating regulatory requirements into simple design solutions.
Additionally, the successful candidate will elevate design standards by mentoring peers, hosting critiques, and utilizing AI-assisted tools and reusable systems. Responsibilities
- Establish the design roadmap and point of view for a new product by translating business and customer inputs
- Develop expertise in local market behaviors for customers and partners
- Collaborate with engineering, product, commercial, and operations leaders
- Define success metrics, provide weekly updates, and present at business reviews
- Design scalable user journeys for matching supply with demand, onboarding, and payments
- Work alongside finance, legal, and operations to simplify regulatory constraints through design
- Mentor other designers, host critiques, and construct reusable systems and AI-assisted tools
Requirements
- Proven experience taking at least one product, market, startup, or new venture from 0 to 1
- A portfolio demonstrating shipped, high-fidelity work that achieved measurable outcomes
- Ability to balance business objectives, customer needs, and technical feasibility
- Demonstrated bias for action to ship and learn quickly
- Fluency in designing reusable systems and prototyping with AI
- Strategic influence to guide designers and align partners with varying priorities
