Olo, a company providing a leading SaaS platform that accelerates digital transformation and guest engagement for the restaurant industry, is hiring a Staff Security Engineer - Blue Team. In this role reporting to the Security Engineering Director, the individual will serve as the technical lead for the Blue Team to protect client and customer data while keeping systems operational. The position involves guiding information protection, incident detection and response, and service delivery, as well as driving security initiatives and mentoring team members.
This is a remote position where candidates can work from anywhere in Northern Ireland. The professional chosen will collaborate with product and engineering teams, external partners, and auditors, while also participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead of the Olo Security Blue Team to build defenses that protect client and customer data
- Guide and coach the Blue Team on Information Protection, Incident Detection and Response, and Service Delivery
- Lead a team of security engineers and analysts focused on threat hunting, detection, and response
- Collaborate with customers and partners to improve their security posture
- Drive ongoing optimisations by implementing new technologies, replacing old systems, and automating security tasks
- Lead the Information Protection program including tool selection, testing, security awareness, and vendor management
- Oversee vulnerability management, threat hunting, and non-event security reviews
- Apply web application and API security principles to protect cloud-based services
- Manage the Incident Detection and Response program, processes, and continuous improvement of controls
- Monitor, detect, and remediate misconfigurations and security risks across cloud environments
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and support critical incidents
- Provide support for security requests, risk assessments, vendor assessments, and PCI and SOC audits
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Security Engineering, Security Operations, or Security Architecture
- Experience acting as a technical lead for distributed teams primarily consisting of remote engineers
- Experience complying with PCI-DSS and other compliance and regulatory standards
- Familiarity with attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures
- Understanding of information technology, evolving threats, attack patterns, incident response, and cyber security standards
- Experience developing and leading incident response, remediation, and mitigation activities
- Experience analyzing security events to distinguish legitimate incidents from non-incidents
- Understanding of operating system, networking, and application concepts
- Experience hardening Windows, macOS, Linux Containers, and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with AWS security best practices and Infrastructure-as-Code
- Experience deploying and maintaining security technologies
