KnowBe4 is seeking a remote Staff Site Reliability Engineer based in the United States to help build, secure, scale, and optimize its digital workforce security platforms. The organization provides security awareness training, attack simulation, and AI-driven defense agents trusted by over 70,000 corporate clients globally. In this role, the engineer will collaborate within an agile development team to improve system safety, simplify complex distributed services, and evaluate new AWS service releases.
This position is well-suited for a professional who enjoys working with cloud-native infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code tools, and automation frameworks while demonstrating strong time-management and communication capabilities. Team members utilize a variety of technologies such as Python, Ruby, Rust, Terraform, OpenTofu, GitLab, Docker, and an extensive suite of AWS services including ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and Aurora.
The employer provides a comprehensive compensation and benefit package featuring a base salary range of $170,000 to $210,000, determined by how closely the candidate's background matches the requirements. Responsibilities
- Plan and implement preventative measures for production incidents
- Design globally distributed architectures and operational processes
- Find and fix shortcomings within current applications and infrastructure
- Develop tailored solutions for complex technical issues and share findings with peers
- Contribute new technology innovations that may lead to patents, trade secrets, or publications
- Translate business strategy into operational action plans and coordinate across functional areas
- Serve as a team lead for larger sub-projects or entire small projects
Requirements
- Equivalent education plus eight years of professional experience
- Ability to code proficiently in multiple or unfamiliar programming languages such as Python and Ruby
- Background in architecting intricate and high-scale patterns within AWS
- Experience building repeatable workflows for CI and CD, preferably using GitLab
- Strong documentation and communication abilities
- Capacity to self-manage time across competing tasks
- Skill to quickly understand, troubleshoot, and explain complex distributed systems
Qualifications
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. degree
- Training in secure coding practices
- Associate level AWS Cloud Certification
- Professional level AWS Cloud Certification
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure
- Experience working at a public company
- History of open-source contributions or technical blog writing
