Job Description
Draftline India is seeking a Staff Software Architect - Data Intensive Web-Applications - Personalization to lead system design and implementation for data-heavy web applications hosted on Microsoft Azure. Operating under AB InBev, the Growth Group unites digital commerce, direct-to-consumer, and marketing functions to scale global brands like Corona, Budweiser, and Michelob Ultra, alongside platforms such as BEES and PerfectDraft.
This position requires an individual who balances high-level architecture with direct coding on critical pathways. The professional in this role will dictate how applications handle massive volumes of data, manage APIs, shape the Next.js presentation tier, and sustain rigorous performance under heavy traffic loads. Candidates should expect to define system boundaries, enforce engineering standards, and collaborate closely with data platform teams to deliver fast, correct, and operable digital products.
Responsibilities
- Lead system design and hands-on delivery for a data-intensive web application on Microsoft Azure
- Write code for critical application paths from initial design through production deployment
- Architect how the product queries, processes, and presents large data volumes including SQL performance, caching, pagination, and search
- Ship dashboards, reports, and data exploration features on existing data platforms
- Document system architecture choices across modular monoliths, microservices, and event-driven structures
- Establish engineering standards for authentication, authorization, observability, automated testing, and continuous delivery
- Incorporate AI-assisted engineering into team building workflows
- Partner with internal teams managing data ingestion and pipelines to serve production traffic efficiently
Requirements
- Experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Software Architect, or equivalent role
- Background in designing and shipping large-scale, high-performance web applications and backend systems
- Hands-on programming proficiency in Java, alongside Go or Python where applicable
- Working familiarity with TypeScript, React, and Next.js
- Production-level experience with Microsoft Azure, distributed systems, API integration, and design
- Strong database capabilities including SQL query optimization, data modeling, NoSQL, caching, and search strategies
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and production debugging
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or another quantitative field
- Master's degree or PhD
- Experience with analytics or BI products, conversational interfaces, and multi-tenant systems
- Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design, feature flags, and progressive delivery
