Faire operates a global technology wholesale platform that connects independent retailers and brands, utilizing data and machine learning to support local commerce. The company is currently seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical vision and evolution of its Growth Platform. In this capacity, you will architect communication systems, targeting capabilities, experimentation infrastructure, and developer tooling to drive expansion across multiple product areas.
This position is well-suited for a strategic and autonomous engineer who prefers creating broad organizational leverage through platforms, abstractions, and frameworks over shipping individual features alone. You will collaborate closely with internal product engineers to simplify growth initiatives, mentor team members, and guide complex cross-functional efforts.
Faire requires hybrid employees to work from an office three days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flexible day of the employee's choice. Employees in hybrid roles also retain the flexibility to work remotely for up to four weeks annually.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and ongoing evolution of the Growth Platform, including messaging infrastructure, targeting systems, and developer tooling
- Collaborate directly with internal platform users to address pain points and deliver high-utility self-serve growth capabilities
- Build scalable systems, frameworks, and abstractions that decrease the cost and complexity of launching new initiatives
- Contribute technical insights to shape overall product and business strategy
- Enhance developer productivity and operational workflows
- Mentor and guide software engineers across various teams to elevate technical standards and business outcomes
- Drive execution as a cross-team technical leader across organizational boundaries
Requirements
- Possess at least 8 years of professional software engineering experience
- Demonstrate a background in building high-scale platforms, infrastructure, or reusable systems that empower other engineering teams
- Exhibit strong internal customer empathy with a proven track record of creating adopted tools and developer experiences
- Bring robust expertise in either backend development or frontend development
- Show consistent experience leading large, ambiguous, and cross-functional initiatives that yield measurable impact
- Possess strong experience with A/B testing, experimentation, and data-driven product development
