Job Description

Domino Data Lab builds a platform that helps large organizations develop, deploy and manage data science and AI models at scale. The company describes itself as a small team with a startup spirit. Its customers include Johnson & Johnson, GSK, UBS and the US Navy. This full-time, remote Staff Software Engineer role sits on the Model Development Lifecycle team.

The team is building tools for the entire model journey. These include deploying models as APIs, a model registry for versioning and locating models, and scalable training resources that use GPUs, Ray and Spark. In the first year, the engineer would help customers plan deployment paths onto AWS SageMaker and Azure ML, add monitoring for deployment health, improve tagging across platform entities, and expand LLM hosting for scale, performance and logging.

The work is backend-heavy. It includes designing secure, scalable interfaces, profiling and tuning performance in cloud and container environments, and setting up automated testing and CI/CD pipelines. The engineer also works with front-end teams and third-party services, and introduces a Data Science Catalog that helps people find and summarize resources across the company.

The posting asks for at least eight years as an individual contributor in software engineering, along with a strong AI and machine learning background that covers model development, training and lifecycle management. Familiarity with distributed frameworks such as Spark, or with Azure ML or SageMaker, would help. The posted US base salary band is $200,000 to $235,000 USD. The posting says other benefits may include equity, a company bonus, a 401(k) retirement plan, health coverage and wellness stipends.
