Phantom is currently seeking a Staff Software Engineer with a focus on site reliability engineering to join its fully remote team of approximately 180 people. This position offers a yearly salary between $200,000 and $250,000, along with equity and benefits. Phantom operates a global financial application that connects millions of users to decentralized markets, tokenized assets, perpetuals, prediction markets, and stablecoins through self-custody solutions. This role is well-suited for an experienced engineer who wants to build infrastructure for global scale, manage blockchain nodes, and optimize database systems handling massive amounts of data. Responsibilities
- Manage and scale Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS to maintain performance, security, and reliability
- Deploy and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code utilizing Terraform or Pulumi for automated provisioning
- Monitor system scalability, resource usage, and overall performance
- Configure and operate crypto nodes across multiple blockchain networks
- Scale and optimize database architecture to process terabytes of blockchain data
- Enhance system uptime, observability, and monitoring via tools like OpenTelemetry and Datadog
- Partner closely with product and backend groups to aid feature creation and system growth
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a Site Reliability Engineer or Software Engineer capacity
- Demonstrated hands-on production background with Kubernetes and EKS
- Extensive working knowledge of AWS services and infrastructure including IAM, RDS, S3, and EC2
- Familiarity with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies like Pulumi or Terraform
- Experience implementing monitoring and observability platforms such as OpenTelemetry or Datadog
