Job Description
This full-time Staff Technical Program Manager role in Operations at Monzo can be based in London or carried out remotely within the UK. Monzo is a UK bank that is reworking its customer operations around automation, human expertise and modern technology. This role runs major programmes across the Operations collective, converting bold ideas into concrete plans and taking a wide partner group along with it.
The programmes span every operational area. Examples include AI-assisted customer support, tools that help Customer Operations teams, and the platforms and procedures behind the operational decisions affecting millions of customers. Working relationships reach frontline operations staff, specialists, product and engineering groups, risk and compliance colleagues and senior leaders. Adoption is treated as seriously as delivery, so the manager builds the people and process side of each programme in from the outset.
Day to day, the manager sets roadmaps and milestones, decides priorities, weighs trade-offs, tracks the critical path and risks, and keeps the work aligned with business goals. The role handles dependencies and delivery sequencing, clears blockers through timely decisions and keeps the wider collective functioning well. The manager needs to explain technical work in plain language and to examine data closely when the right answer is not obvious.
Candidates should have solid experience running complex technology programmes from first idea to launch, and should be able to win over senior leaders and settle disagreements without leaning on formal authority. The company values people who have led change across a whole organization and can show how they helped teams adopt it, not just deliver it. Working across a global business with several markets is part of the job. The hiring process consists of a recruiter call, an initial call with an engineering leader and a loop of three interviews.
