Job Description
Quest Defense Systems and Solutions (QDSS) is an aerospace and defense engineering company that cites more than 25 years of experience. It develops next-generation aerospace and defense systems, and this remote position focuses on the structural integrity of critical aircraft parts, including their strength, weight and durability.
The engineer performs stress analysis by hand and with finite element analysis, carries out structural dynamics work such as rotor dynamics and torsional system analysis, and collaborates with designers to shape load paths and refine structures for strength, weight and ease of manufacture. Other duties include examining failure modes, supporting test programmes, checking results against regulatory and customer requirements, preparing analysis documentation for engineering releases, and advising on design options by weighing risk, cost and performance.
The posting prefers four to seven or more years of aerospace experience and expects considerable hands-on work in structural analysis and design. Applicants should hold an undergraduate or graduate qualification in structural engineering, or in a neighbouring field and be fluent in ANSYS, ABAQUS and Siemens NX. A solid command of how structures, dynamics and materials behave is needed to interpret complex results. Due to the project's nature, only US citizens and US lawful permanent residents may apply. Travel of up to 25 percent may be required, and living near Indianapolis and working in Eastern or Central time are preferred. The posted pay range is $100,000 to $120,000 USD.
