IT Support Guy seeks a skilled System and Security Engineer for a full-time, remote position operating on the Sydney time zone with an 8:00 AM start time for an eight-hour workday. This role focuses on overseeing, preserving, and safeguarding IT infrastructure while delivering reliable operational support for organization systems and users. Candidates must be comfortable working independently in a remote environment alongside a global team while managing high-pressure situations.
The professional hired will handle various administrative duties spanning physical hardware, virtualization platforms, Linux and Windows operating systems, network hardware, and automated tasks. Qualified individuals will utilize artificial intelligence tools to optimize operational workflows, execute data protection measures, and monitor security operations platforms.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain physical servers, VMware ESXi servers, Linux, NAS, domain servers, and Windows Server versions 2022 and 2025
- Maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VLAN configurations, SSL VPN, and Open VPN
- Configure, deploy, and manage domain controllers, file servers, Exchange servers, and remote desktop servers
- Deliver desktop, laptop, printer, and VOIP PBX support to end-users
- Write and maintain Bash scripts to automate daily tasks and boost efficiency
- Deploy and manage backup and replication tools like Veeam to protect data integrity
- Handle the deployment and monitoring of SIEM, SOC, EDR, and MDR tools to bolster security
- Use artificial intelligence tools and methodologies to streamline processes and elevate work efficiency
- Configure Exchange servers, resolve networking problems, and deploy security protocols
Requirements
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of fundamental networking concepts and practices
- Show proven experience working with VMware ESXi, Linux systems, and Windows Server
- Possess experience managing NAS servers, domain servers, and Exchange servers
- Bring practical knowledge of VLANs, routers, switches, firewalls, and SSL or Open VPN
- Use Bash scripting for task automation
- Handle backup and replication solutions such as Veeam
- Operate SIEM, SOC, EDR, and MDR security tools
- Apply artificial intelligence utilities to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Maintain familiarity with printer support and VOIP PBX configuration
- Exhibit excellent English speaking and communication skills
- Remain capable of performing under pressure during challenging scenarios
