Westernacher Solutions is seeking a full-time System Engineer to support critical public sector platforms and justice system technologies. This remote position is available from Bulgaria, Sofia, Plovdiv, or Germany, offering candidates the chance to build secure, highly available infrastructures. The ideal candidate has experience operating complex applications, strong Linux skills, and a passion for automation and reliability.
In this role, professionals will design, run, and enhance application and infrastructure environments while collaborating within agile, cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include resolving complex operational incidents, executing load and failover testing, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and driving lifecycle management processes. Responsibilities
- Design, operate, and continuously improve infrastructure and application environments
- Ensure reliable operations through monitoring, incident analysis, and sustainable problem resolution
- Provide third-level support by troubleshooting complex technical issues and handling demanding operational tasks
- Implement security measures alongside load, performance, and failover testing
- Build, optimize, and maintain modern CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab
- Automate deployment and operational procedures to boost quality and efficiency
- Further develop methods, processes, and tools spanning the entire software lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with development and operations teams in agile, cross-functional settings
Requirements
- Several years of hands-on experience in infrastructure and/or application operations
- Good knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions like Prometheus, Elastic Stack, or Icinga
- Experience utilizing configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet
- Solid understanding of networking concepts including routing, firewall configuration, and load balancing
- Experience running applications in cloud environments, on-premises environments, or both
- Strong Linux administration skills using systems such as Ubuntu or CentOS
- Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines alongside version control systems like GitLab
- Fluent German and good English communication skills in both written and spoken formats
Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification
- Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure
