Bright Vision Technologies, an enterprise solutions, data, cloud, and artificial intelligence consulting and software firm operating across the United States, seeks a full-time, direct W2 Systems Observability Specialist. This position operates on a completely remote basis within the U.S. and provides an annual salary between $135,000 and $155,000.
The person in this role will build, manage, and oversee alerting workflows, metrics, logging, and tracing platforms to help engineering teams maintain system reliability. Responsibilities encompass the entire observability lifecycle, covering collection pipelines, long-term data storage, agents, and visualization dashboards while prioritizing signal quality and usability.
This position is well-suited for professionals who understand the differences between SaaS and open-source tools, possess experience scaling observability systems, and can turn complex data into useful insights for technical and business teams alike. Responsibilities
- Design and operate metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting platforms
- Manage the full observability stack from collection agents to long-term storage and dashboards
- Transform noisy telemetry data into actionable insights for engineers and business stakeholders
- Drive observability cost optimization initiatives
- Integrate observability platforms with incident management tooling and CI/CD pipelines
Requirements
- At least 6 years of total professional experience
- Minimum of 5 years working in platform engineering, SRE, or observability roles
- Hands-on background with Grafana, Prometheus, and a major commercial observability platform such as Splunk, New Relic, or Datadog
- Familiarity with structured logging, distributed tracing, and OpenTelemetry
- Programming proficiency in Python, Go, or Java
- Practical experience running high-throughput, high-cardinality log and metric pipelines
- Understanding of SRE concepts, error budgets, and SLOs
- Knowledge of container platforms, networking, and Linux internals
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related academic discipline
- Experience working with Thanos, Loki, Mimir, Cortex, or Tempo at scale
- Prior contributions to open-source observability projects or OpenTelemetry
- Familiarity with eBPF-based observability instruments
- Exposure to regulated environments that have audit-grade logging demands
