Sensiba LLP is hiring a remote Tax Manager specializing in real estate to lead tax consulting, planning, and compliance projects for clients in the property sector. This position involves managing complex tax engagements, overseeing partnership taxation, handling depreciation and 1031 exchanges, and mentoring junior team members. While the job is fully remote across the United States, applicants residing on the West Coast or in the Pacific Northwest are preferred to align with the existing client base.

This role suits experienced accounting professionals with deep technical knowledge of real estate taxation who enjoy building client relationships and supporting staff development. Responsibilities

  • Design and execute tax plans for property transactions including sales, purchases, structuring, and 1031 exchanges
  • Review and perform cost segregation studies and manage depreciation strategies like bonus depreciation and MACRS
  • Prepare and oversee complex tax filings for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts
  • Handle partnership tax compliance matters including basis tracking, capital accounts, special allocations, and K-2/K-3 reporting
  • Examine capitalization versus expense treatments under IRC §263A and evaluate business interest limits under Section 163(j)
  • Train, guide, and mentor junior accounting staff while building and maintaining positive client relationships

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of public accounting experience preparing and reviewing tax returns
  • Valid CPA or EA license
  • Familiarity with financial analysis tools and tax software including CCH products like ProSystems and FX Engagement
  • In-depth technical knowledge of real estate tax rules, investor regulations, and developer-specific requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe
