Leidos is offering a remote summer internship for students pursuing a technical graduate degree, supporting the Service Management, Integration, and Transport program for the U.S. Navy. The position involves contributing to artificial intelligence solutions, automation workflows, and cybersecurity compliance in a mission-critical environment.
This role is designed for individuals who want hands-on experience working alongside multidisciplinary scrum teams. Interns will collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and Information System Security Engineers to design, document, and test technology solutions that meet strict compliance and security standards.
The position requires active participation in Agile ceremonies, assistance with risk assessments, and the creation of technical documentation aligned with authorization frameworks. Candidates will also help build automation scripts and support Robotic Process Automation initiatives to eliminate manual tasks and improve overall efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop and prototype AI-enabled automation solutions and AI agents
- Document system architectures, data flows, and security details for the authorization process
- Assist engineers with risk assessments, control implementations, and compliance artifacts
- Translate technical solution designs into documentation aligned with authorization frameworks
- Write Python scripts and automation for operational workflows and AI agents
- Test, validate, and refine automation and AI solutions before production deployment
- Contribute to Robotic Process Automation tasks to minimize manual effort
- Engage in Agile events including sprint planning, daily scrums, and retrospectives
- Manage backlog tasks, process improvements, and technical writing
- Collaborate with a dispersed, remote team of technical professionals
Requirements
- Enrollment in a Master degree program in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a related field
- Proficiency in programming or scripting, specifically with Python
- Comprehension of software design basics, data flows, or system architecture concepts
- Strong documentation, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Capacity to work alongside technical and cybersecurity stakeholders
- Demonstrated interest in automation, secure system delivery, and artificial intelligence
- Ability to qualify for a Secret level security clearance
- United States citizenship
- Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher
Qualifications
- Exposure to generative AI frameworks, machine learning, or AI agents
- Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance processes and authorization frameworks
- Background in developing or supporting automation or Robotic Process Automation tools like UiPath
- Experience with technical writing, architecture documentation, or system diagrams
- Familiarity with cloud-based architectures, microservices, or REST APIs
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
- Possession of or interest in earning Security+ or other Department of Defense-aligned cybersecurity certifications
