OLLY PBC is hiring a Temporary Senior Accountant for a remote assignment lasting three to six months at forty hours per week. This temporary role focuses on Amazon and Shopify direct-to-consumer revenue accounting, account reconciliations, and the month-end close process. The position suits an independent, detail-oriented professional who can quickly take ownership of accounting workflows and navigate complex datasets in a fast-paced environment.
Key duties involve handling Shopify revenue and reconciling transactions against bank records, payment processors, and ERP systems. The accountant will also oversee Amazon Cold Ship revenue recognition, verify shipment data against fulfillment records, generate weekly consolidated invoices, and investigate pricing or quantity variances. Additional responsibilities include preparing monthly cost of goods sold accruals, managing balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with Paylocity payroll reporting setups and tax registrations, and collaborating across teams to resolve discrepancies.
Responsibilities
- Manage Shopify direct-to-consumer revenue accounting including sales, refunds, chargebacks, and deferred revenue
- Reconcile Shopify transactions against payment processors, bank deposits, and ERP systems
- Support Amazon Cold Ship revenue recognition and reconcile Vendor Central sales data with fulfillment records
- Build weekly consolidated sales invoices and investigate pricing or quantity discrepancies
- Prepare monthly cost of goods sold accruals and analyze variances against actual costs
- Perform month-end close tasks including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with Paylocity payroll reporting setup, general ledger account mapping, and state payroll tax registrations
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues and boost operational efficiency
Requirements
- Four or more years of accounting experience covering month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Working knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition principles, and accrual accounting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency with capability handling large transactional datasets
- Ability to operate independently in a remote setting
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Prior experience with Shopify, Amazon Vendor Central, e-commerce accounting, or consumer packaged goods
- Familiarity with Paylocity, payroll reporting, or multi-state payroll tax registrations
