Job Description

Revamp Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Transmission Line Engineer II/III for High Voltage to design overhead medium- and high-voltage lines connecting battery storage and utility-scale solar projects to the electrical grid. Established in 2016, Revamp focuses on advancing large-scale renewable energy assets and has contributed to designing over ten percent of the utility-scale solar generation capacity in the United States since 2020. This role involves translating technical specifications into construction-ready deliverables, collaborating alongside substation, civil, and protection and controls engineers within the High Voltage team. Depending on an applicant's technical independence, depth, and ability to steer scope, candidates may enter at either the Engineer II or Engineer III tier. Employees participate in an employee-ownership model through an ESOP program and work in a collaborative environment dedicated to accelerating the global energy transition.

Daily duties encompass route evaluation, conductor selection, sag-tension calculations, structure spotting, and clearance verification using PLS-CADD. Professionals will model wood, steel, and concrete poles plus lattice towers utilizing PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER, draft foundation designs, generate bills of material, and assemble permit packages. Senior-level appointees manage multiple project portfolios, guide design criteria, act as Engineer of Record when licensed, and mentor junior staff. This opportunity suits engineering professionals experienced in high-voltage overhead lines who want to support renewable generation connections while sharing directly in company results.

Responsibilities

  • Design overhead transmission, gen-tie, and medium-voltage lines via PLS-CADD including clearance verification, sag-tension analysis, and structure spotting
  • Model steel, wood, and concrete poles as well as lattice towers in PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER software
  • Prepare structure load sheets, bills of material, insulation assemblies, framing details, and custom steel pole specifications
  • Design or coordinate drilled pier and direct-embed foundations using geotechnical reports
  • Process survey and LiDAR files to build terrain models and crossing data
  • Produce building, development, and permitting drawing packages
  • Manage assigned design scopes within schedule and budget constraints while tracking RFIs and design alterations
  • Ensure compliance with NESC, ASCE 48, ASCE 74, IEEE, and utility codes

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Two or more years of overhead transmission or distribution line design experience for Engineer II, or five or more years for Engineer III
  • Working proficiency in PLS-CADD including sag-tension analysis, clearance checks, and structure spotting
  • Demonstrated experience building structural models in PLS-TOWER or PLS-POLE
  • Working knowledge of ASCE 48, ASCE 74, and NESC standards
  • Experience creating material lists, structure load sheets, and plan and profile drawings

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license or Engineer in Training certification
  • Background in designing gen-tie lines for storage, solar, or other generation interconnections
  • Foundation design expertise utilizing MFAD or PLS-CAISSON
  • Experience handling LiDAR data for line design purposes
  • Familiarity with MicroStation or AutoCAD
  • Prior exposure to underground transmission or substation physical and steel design

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Participation in the employee ownership ESOP program
  • Competitive salary accompanied by a bonus
  • Comprehensive insurance offerings including 99 percent employer-paid dental, health, vision, and life coverage
  • Medical, commuter, and dependent care flexible spending accounts
