Job Description
Tupande in Kenya is recruiting a food safety professional on a fixed-term contract to run its food safety system and keep BRCGS and FSSC certification current. The post supports access to premium export markets, whose buyers use only certified suppliers, and that access can raise the price farmers receive for macadamia.
The holder leads the food safety team, reviews shift records and critical control points, investigates problems to their root cause, closes audit findings, and prepares the site for audits. The post briefs senior leadership on how well the system performs.
Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain and update the FSMS, and organize and train the food safety team
- Run hazard analysis, verify process flow diagrams and monitor critical control points and prerequisite programs
- Close internal and external audit gaps and non-conformities on time, escalating issues to the processing lead
- Oversee environmental monitoring, product testing and quality sampling training
Requirements
- More than five years in food manufacturing
- Knowledge of ISO 22000, HACCP, FSSC and BRCGS standards
- Strong attention to detail and root-cause problem solving
- Ability to coach teams and communicate food safety issues clearly to senior management
Qualifications
- Food science degree at bachelor level
- Familiarity with halal, kosher and Kephis requirements
