Job Description
Darkroom is seeking a UI/UX Designer for a fully remote position supporting a team operating in the EST time zone from 9 AM to 5 PM EST. The employer builds technology that helps small teams market and grow consumer brands, centering on an AI coordination layer named Shadow. Shadow provides centralized agent control, model orchestration, and shared AI memory for marketing operations. The agency backing the product, Darkroom, has operated for ten years, employs over one hundred people, manages numerous clients concurrently, and serves as the primary user and proving ground for the software.
In this capacity, you will take charge of features from initial user conversations to production-ready screens. You will work forward-deployed alongside subject-matter experts such as media buyers, strategists, and creatives to understand real workflows and challenges. The work involves designing and building within Figma and directly in code, ensuring UI and UX consistency across all application screens from dashboards to agent interactions. You will rapidly prototype solutions, invent interaction patterns for agentic work, and organize dense multi-channel datasets into intuitive interfaces that marketers can digest quickly.
Responsibilities
- Manage features from end to end by identifying problems, shaping solutions, designing, building, and deploying
- Embed directly with subject-matter experts to understand daily workflows and operational hurdles
- Translate user research into product offerings including agent conversations, creative dashboards, and marketing calendars
- Maintain consistent UI and UX across the entire application by keeping design systems updated in Figma and React
- Focus closely on micro-details including typography, motion, spacing, and loading or empty states
- Prototype rapidly using code, Figma, or AI tools to test ideas with experts within days
- Design novel interaction patterns for agentic tasks like streaming answers and previewing changes prior to ad account execution
- Simplify complex multi-channel data into clean, readable screens for marketers
- Integrate the brand identity into the product alongside brand partners
Requirements
- Demonstrated portfolio or live work displaying shipped product UI containing both design and code
- Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and CSS, with Tailwind as a plus
- Ability to independently own a frontend codebase beyond isolated components
- Demonstrated visual and interaction design capabilities covering layout, color, typography, and motion
- Curiosity about user workflows and the capability to translate observations into core problems
- Systems mindset for maintaining consistency across different screens
- Comfort working in both Figma and code editors, with the judgment to bypass Figma when appropriate
- Capacity to design data-dense interfaces that remain calm under heavy information loads
- Regular usage of AI tools like Cursor or Claude Code alongside clear opinions on AI product design
- Comfort with ambiguity and a preference for shipping quickly over private polishing
- Strong written communication skills to articulate design rationales clearly to diverse stakeholders
- Approximately five or more years of combined experience across design and frontend engineering
Qualifications
- Experience with forward-deployed, solutions, customer-facing work, or user research
- Background in building design systems utilized by other engineers
- Data visualization capability using tools like D3, Visx, Recharts, or hand-rolled SVG
- Motion design experience involving spring animation or Framer Motion
- Familiarity with LLM APIs, streaming interfaces, or agent products
- Prior exposure to marketing, ecommerce, analytics tools, or running advertisements
Core Skills
Benefits
- Unlimited paid time off plus local holidays relevant to your hub
- Remote-first culture with hub locations including Brazil and Spain
- Flexible parental leave to support new parents during transitions
- Interdisciplinary model providing professional exposure beyond core responsibilities
