Omatic is seeking a hands-on Vice President of Engineering to lead and manage an engineering organization of over 20 professionals. The employer provides a data integration and data trust platform tailored for nonprofits, featuring plugin products as well as Omatic Cloud built on Microsoft Azure. Reporting to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, this remote leadership position within the United States involves overseeing infrastructure, development, platform operations, site reliability engineering, and delivery. The selected candidate will guide the team through critical initiatives, including migrating established customers to Omatic Cloud, transitioning the department into outcome-oriented teams across Platform, Cloud Services, Delivery, and SRE, and strengthening the Microsoft Azure platform layer.
This operational role suits an experienced engineering leader who can execute production strategy while partnering closely with Product, Finance, and executive leadership. Key duties include setting team structures, establishing release discipline and reliability practices, coordinating roadmap delivery, and managing talent acquisition and culture. Candidates must be prepared to travel to Charleston, South Carolina, for one week each quarter to align with planning cycles, as well as attend a team launch in early January 2027.
Responsibilities
- Lead an engineering organization consisting of more than 20 team members across infrastructure, development, platform, site reliability, and delivery
- Transition the department from traditional structures into outcome-oriented teams spanning Platform, Cloud Services, Delivery, and SRE
- Drive the engineering effort to migrate established customers to Omatic Cloud on a defined timeline
- Build upon existing cloud foundations in Microsoft Azure to accelerate service development and increase resilience
- Establish reliability practices including published service-level objectives, error budgets, sustainable on-call rotations, incident reviews, and structured release processes
- Collaborate with Product to deliver roadmaps predictably while reporting capacity, spend, and progress to the business
- Partner with Product and Customer teams to facilitate smooth customer migrations
- Hire, develop, and retain engineering talent while fostering a culture that prioritizes documentation and knowledge sharing
- Evolve the software development lifecycle to integrate AI-assisted development
- Run engineering leadership meetings, co-own priorities with Product, and chair release and incident reviews
- Co-author the annual budget and headcount plan and present monthly engineering reports to the CPTO and CFO
Requirements
- Experience serving as the senior engineering leader of an organization ranging from 15 to 50 people, reporting directly to a CTO, CPTO, or CEO
- Background in a private equity-backed or similarly capital-disciplined software company
- Practical and forward-looking approach to utilizing artificial intelligence within the software development lifecycle
- Demonstrated experience leading a team through structural organizational changes, such as moving from component teams to product or outcome teams
- Track record of recruiting and hiring engineers against defined plans, including senior and staff-level talent, and managing performance issues
- Experience owning production operations for a multi-tenant SaaS platform, encompassing on-call, incident management, service-level objectives, postmortems, and executive reliability reporting
- Experience building or running integration products at scale, such as connector ecosystems, ETL pipelines, data synchronization, or multi-consumer data platforms
- Experience reporting engineering capacity, spending, and delivery metrics to financial stakeholders, boards, or investors
- Ability to travel to Charleston, South Carolina, for one week each quarter and for a team launch in early January 2027
Qualifications
- Experience working with graph or semantic data
- Experience with probabilistic identity resolution and entity matching
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration platforms
- Experience operating in multi-cloud environments utilizing both AWS and Azure
- Background in transitioning from manual quality assurance to engineer-owned quality through test automation
