Job Description
Nium seeks a Vice President of Product to lead the end-to-end evolution, strategy, and commercial performance of its global payments product portfolio. Operating as a mini-GM, this leader will focus heavily on payments infrastructure, card issuance, and emerging digital assets or stablecoins, reporting directly to the chief executive officer. The role is positioned at the intersection of regulatory compliance, technical architecture, and commercial strategy, working closely with senior leadership and diverse cross-functional teams.
This position requires an experienced product leader who can seamlessly balance long-term vision with hands-on execution, commercial decision-making, and customer research. Responsibilities encompass owning the complete product lifecycle from market discovery to monetization, shaping business cases, and driving adoption metrics like revenue, margin, and payment volume. The ideal candidate brings extensive fintech or banking infrastructure expertise, a strong grasp of money movement rails, and familiarity with card issuance ecosystems.
The organization functions as a global leader in real-time, cross-border payments, operating an extensive payout network across numerous currencies and markets while maintaining regulatory authorizations globally. Nium operates with a hybrid working environment requiring three days per week in the office. This opportunity suits an executive with a track record of scaling global products, navigating regulatory frameworks, and applying modern AI tools effectively within product execution.
Responsibilities
- Manage the product portfolio as an accountable product owner and mini-GM with direct oversight of business performance and commercial outcomes
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle from initial discovery and market research to roadmap prioritization, launch, optimization, and eventual retirement
- Partner with the chief executive officer and executive team to set the product vision and translate company priorities into targeted investments
- Drive the commercial success of the portfolio by shaping pricing, monetization strategies, business cases, and return-on-investment goals
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, solutions, and customer success teams to define target segments, sharpen value propositions, and accelerate adoption
- Build a customer-insight engine through direct enterprise engagement, quantitative research, and win or loss analysis
- Guide the evolution of global money-movement features including cross-border rails, collections, foreign exchange, and settlement infrastructure
- Direct the strategy for the card issuance platform covering virtual and physical cards, lifecycle management, and tokenization
- Formulate stablecoin and digital-asset product strategies balancing customer value, operational complexity, and regulatory compliance
- Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing product organization with clear standards for execution and commercial thinking
Requirements
- Significant product leadership experience in banking infrastructure, fintech, payments, or financial technology
- Demonstrated background in owning portfolio performance, commercial outcomes, and product strategy rather than roadmap management alone
- Deep understanding of payments infrastructure, cross-border transactions, real-time payment rails, foreign exchange, or settlement
- Strong familiarity with card issuance or processing, including issuer processors, authorization, and network scheme requirements
- Knowledge of digital-asset infrastructure, stablecoins, or blockchain-based payments with the judgment to evaluate enterprise use cases
- Proven experience building API-first enterprise platforms and collaborating closely with engineering teams
- Experience operating within highly regulated environments and partnering with compliance, legal, risk, and treasury functions
Qualifications
- Experience working at a high-growth fintech or payments startup through a scale phase
- Direct background launching stablecoin-powered payments, treasury, or card products
- Familiarity with both traditional payment infrastructure and blockchain rails
- Prior P&L ownership for a major payments, fintech, or cards product portfolio
