Oddball is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to guide and expand its engineering division across a federal digital modernization portfolio. This remote position involves establishing technical standards across a team of more than 100 engineers, managing talent development, and blending commercial best practices with government delivery realities.
The role requires someone who can mentor technical leads, collaborate with program managers, and contribute hands-on architecture expertise when necessary. The ideal candidate brings a background in leading engineering organizations, strong communication abilities, and familiarity with federal contracting environments. Responsibilities also include participating in business growth efforts, steering technical strategy regarding artificial intelligence and cloud modernization, and acting as a technical thought leader internally and externally.
Responsibilities
- Establish and oversee technical standards and consistency for over 100 engineers working across multiple federal programs.
- Manage talent decisions including promotions, performance evaluations, and the development of growth pathways.
- Collaborate with technical leads, program managers, and other vice presidents to guarantee the delivery of quality solutions.
- Engage hands-on with architecture, prototyping, and complex problem-solving when needed.
- Design and maintain the engineering career ladder, incorporating mentorship structures, skill levels, and continuing education criteria.
- Coach technical leads in both managerial and technical competencies.
- Formulate portfolio-wide technical strategy to enhance performance, tooling, and delivery methods.
- Monitor emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, and cloud platform engineering to create client advantages.
- Support business capture and growth initiatives through proposal reviews, solutioning, and technical viability assessments.
- Represent Oddball as a technical thought leader to clients and at industry events.
Requirements
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

- Possess significant experience leading engineering organizations within a federal contracting context.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Commercial, product, or industry experience outside of government with the ability to apply those lessons to federal delivery.
- Demonstrated history of building technical culture, career development programs, and high-performing engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery, DevSecOps, and cloud modernization in federal settings.
- Experience building partnerships and directing technical change alongside government clients.
