Job Description

Distru is looking for its inaugural VP of Product to head the product department and work directly with the executive team. The role is full-time and fully remote. Distru calls itself the top cannabis-industry ERP and offers a B2B eCommerce platform covering stock control, production, selling and shipping.

The company is building from its ERP base into an AI stack for commercial businesses and shifting toward a headless-first approach. That approach offers unified access to ERP data, MCP and API links, and assistants embedded in the product. The VP will set product direction across Order Agent, Distru ERP, Distru Analytics, Distru Commerce and the AI suite. Deliverables include a quarterly strategy review for executives covering market landscape and sequencing, a one-year roadmap, metrics and resourcing requests, plus ownership of the product timeline for business and technical teams.

The product group has four people today and is expected to expand to eight or more. The VP leads product hiring and sets the standard for it, reviews PRDs, designs and mockups, defines PRD standards, and tries out AI-first ways of working. The role also means shaping data infrastructure with engineering, aligning with go-to-market teams on launches and educational content, using customer and sales input to guide priorities, and managing the team through hard conversations.

Strong candidates have stood up and managed a product organization, including hiring, developing people and making tough personnel decisions. Experience creating and shipping MCP tools in production is required, along with experience steering a product into fresh markets or significant new directions. The ideal person understands the SaaS and AI stack from infrastructure and data through full-stack development, and has a practical sense of uptime, monitoring, access control and safe workflow execution. Real AI fluency is needed, including hands-on work with LLM tools and a clear view on how to assess AI workflows. Prior exposure to ERP systems, accounting tools, cannabis businesses or supply chain software is a bonus.

The salary range is USD 250,000 to 400,000 per year, plus equity. Where a candidate falls in the range depends on location, knowledge, experience and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Set product direction and strategy across ERP, Commerce, Order Agent, Analytics and the AI suite
  • Present a quarterly strategy review to executives, covering market, sequencing, a one-year roadmap, metrics and resourcing
  • Build and lead the product hiring pipeline, defining the bar
  • Keep the product timeline as the single reference for company and technical teams
  • Lead experiments in AI-first product practice and promote team adoption
  • Review and refine PRDs, designs and mockups, and set PRD standards hands-on
  • Make sure MCP and API documentation, knowledge base and launch materials are high quality
  • Agree an operating rhythm with engineering covering planning and roadmap reviews
  • Work with engineering on data infrastructure for internal and external AI use
  • Partner with go-to-market teams on feature training, launches and AI content
  • Measure feature adoption and gather feedback from customers, sales and support

Requirements

  • Track record of building, hiring into and coaching a product organization
  • Experience building and shipping production MCPs
  • Experience moving a product into fresh markets or significant new directions
  • Solid technical grounding in modern SaaS and AI stacks
  • Familiarity with uptime, monitoring, access control and safe automated workflows
  • Outcome-focused, judging progress by results
  • Hands-on LLM tool experience and a clear view on evaluating AI workflows
  • Able to work directly with engineers, writing PRDs and tooling details

Qualifications

  • Prior exposure to ERP systems, accounting tools, cannabis businesses or supply chain software
