Greenhouse Software is hiring a remote Vice President of Security to direct company-wide security operations, encompassing product, corporate, and information security. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this executive will build and guide a multidisciplinary team, shape multi-year security strategies, and safeguard employee and candidate information as the business scales. This leader will advise the executive team, the Board of Directors, and key internal departments on security posture, compliance, and risk management.
The ideal candidate is a strategic yet hands-on professional who balances risk, budget, and operational velocity while maintaining trust. This role suits an experienced leader who can navigate complex technical landscapes, manage critical incident response calmly, and communicate effectively with regulators, customers, and executives.
Responsibilities
- Design and direct Greenhouse's security strategy, operating model, multi-year roadmap, and budget priorities
- Oversee a multidisciplinary security team covering product, corporate, and information security with an AI-native operational approach
- Manage enterprise, vendor, and third-party risk while setting risk appetites with the executive leadership team
- Direct serious incident response efforts from detection and triage through communication with executives, regulators, and customers
- Establish AI usage governance, acceptable-use standards, data handling boundaries, and auditability protocols
- Lead data security, classification, access controls, data loss prevention, and data residency in collaboration with Legal and Privacy
- Represent company security interests to the Board of Directors, prospective clients, external partners, and auditors
Requirements
- Minimum of 12 years of professional security experience
- At least 5 years of experience leading a multidisciplinary security organization
- Prior background as a CISO, Head of Security, Vice President of Security, or comparable senior leader
- Experience scaling security programs at a B2B SaaS or consumer technology company
- Hands-on expertise across security operations, cloud security, product security, IAM, risk, compliance, and incident response
- Experience presenting risk, posture, and investments to boards of directors and executive leadership
- Background securing cloud environments like AWS and Kubernetes alongside modern identity platforms such as Okta, SAML, or OpenID Connect
- Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Qualifications
- Experience with AI security, responsible AI, or securing AI-enabled products
- Familiarity with ISO 42001, ISO 27701, GDPR, the EU AI Act, or HR technology handling sensitive personal data
