How to apply for EFCC recruitment 2026: step by step
Open the official portal. Type recruitment.efcc.gov.ng into your browser. Use a laptop or a phone browser with JavaScript enabled, because the portal won't load without it.
Create an account. Enter your name, email address, NIN, date of birth and phone number. Your date of birth must match your NIN record exactly.
Verify your email. Click the link the portal sends you, then set a password. Check your spam folder if the email doesn't arrive.
Choose one cadre. Pick the category your highest qualification and age fit. Only one application is allowed.
Fill in the form and upload your documents. You can save a draft and come back later.
Review carefully, then submit. You cannot edit an application after you submit it.
Print your application. Shortlisted candidates must bring a printed copy to screening.
Documents to scan before you start
Which documents you upload depends on your highest qualification. Have these ready:
Passport photograph (JPG or PNG only)
Birth certificate or declaration of age
Indigene certificate or local government certificate
Primary school certificate
WAEC, NECO or NABTEB certificate
National Diploma certificate (if applicable)
HND or degree certificate (if applicable)
NYSC discharge or exemption certificate (if applicable)
Professional membership certificate (if applicable)
File size limits: each file can be up to 250 KB, or 500 KB for the professional certificate. You can upload PDF, JPG or PNG. The portal shrinks large photos for you but does not compress PDFs, so keep every PDF under the limit before you upload it. A free phone scanner app set to "small" or "medium" quality usually gets a one-page certificate under 250 KB.
Common mistakes that can get you disqualified
Submitting more than one application. The portal says this leads to automatic disqualification.
A date of birth that doesn't match your NIN. Check your NIN slip before you register.
Applying above the age limit for your cadre. A 28-year-old ND holder can't apply as Detective Inspector (limit 27), for example. Check the limit for the cadre you want.
Leaving it to the last day. Government portals often slow down near a deadline. Register early, save a draft, and submit before 1 November.
False information. Wrong or false details also lead to automatic disqualification, and screening will check original documents.
Beware of fake EFCC recruitment links
EFCC says it does not authorise any agent to collect money from candidates. Nobody can sell you a slot, "fast-track" your application or guarantee you a job. Treat any WhatsApp message, Facebook page or website that asks for a fee as a scam, and only trust information published on recruitment.efcc.gov.ng or efcc.gov.ng. For help, the portal lists info@efcc.gov.ng. Our guide on how to spot and verify fake recruitment in Nigeria covers the warning signs in more detail.
What happens after you apply?
EFCC has not published screening dates, venues or a shortlist timeline on the portal yet. Shortlisted candidates should expect to bring a printed copy of their application and their original documents. Check your email, including spam, and the official portal regularly. Treat any "shortlist" that appears anywhere else first with caution.
