National Jobs Portal (NJP) Pakistan: How to Register and Apply in 2026

Quick answer: To apply for federal government jobs through the National Jobs Portal (NJP), sign up at njp.gov.pk with your CNIC, an email address and a password, verify your account from the email you receive, build your CV in the portal's CV Manager, then open a vacancy, check the eligibility criteria and submit before the closing date. Registration and applications on NJP are free.
What is the National Jobs Portal?
The National Jobs Portal is the Government of Pakistan's online platform for public-sector vacancies. It was set up by the National Information Technology Board (NITB) and launched in September 2020 under the federal government's digital transformation drive. Federal ministries and departments are required to advertise their vacancies through it, so many federal jobs that appear in newspapers will also ask you to apply on NJP.
According to an NITB document reported in January 2026, the portal had about 2.1 million registered CVs, 205 registered ministries, divisions and departments, and roughly 33,800 job adverts and recruitment notices published since launch. The Ministry of IT has also asked NITB to work on AI-based job matching and faster shortlisting, but that upgrade was still at the planning stage when reported.
NJP is separate from the public service commissions. FPSC, PPSC, SPSC and other commissions run their own online application systems, so a commission post is applied for on that commission's site, not on NJP.
Who should use NJP?
Candidates for federal ministry, division and department posts advertised "through the National Jobs Portal".
Applicants for contract and project posts in federal bodies (for example, PSDP-funded project jobs).
Job seekers who want one place to browse public-sector vacancies by city, pay scale (BPS and other scales), job type (regular or contract), experience and age range.
How to register on njp.gov.pk
Go to the official site, www.njp.gov.pk, and click Sign Up.
Enter your CNIC number, a working email address and a password. Use an email you check regularly, because verification and password resets go there.
Open the verification email from NJP and follow the instructions to activate your account.
Sign in with your CNIC/email and password.
Forgot your password? On the Sign In page choose Forgot Password, enter your CNIC and email, and request a reset code.
Build your CV in the CV Manager
Your NJP profile is what the recruiting department screens, so complete it carefully before you apply for anything.
From your dashboard, open CV Manager → Build CV.
Fill in personal information, education, work experience and other details.
Enter job dates accurately. NJP checks your experience against each job's requirements, and overlapping periods are not counted twice.
Upload supporting documents where the form asks for them.
If your degree is missing from the education drop-down list, use Generate Ticket in the education section. NJP says tickets are resolved within 48 working hours, so do this well before a deadline.
Keep scanned copies of your CNIC, degrees, transcripts, experience letters and domicile certificate ready, as many federal adverts ask for them at the interview or document-verification stage.
How to apply for a job on NJP
Sign in to your candidate account.
Search or filter vacancies (or scroll the homepage) by location, scale, job type, experience or age.
Open the advert and read the eligibility criteria: qualification, experience, age limit and any domicile or quota conditions.
Click Apply Now and submit from your account before the closing date.
Take a screenshot or save a copy of the submitted application for your records.
Closed adverts do not accept applications unless the employer extends or re-opens them. Whether you can edit a submitted application depends on its status, so review everything before final submission.
Example: a current NJP advert
The Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives advertised contract posts of Assistant Private Secretary and Accountant (equivalent to PPS-6) on 20 October 2026 for a PSDP monitoring project, with applications through njp.gov.pk within 15 days of publication (report). Always confirm the exact closing date on the advert inside NJP itself.
Why NJP says "not eligible" and what to do
Education entered incorrectly: the portal applies the employer's filters automatically, so a wrong degree title or missing result can block you. Correct your CV first.
Experience dates: missing or overlapping dates can leave you short of the required years.
Age: check the upper age limit stated in the advert and whether any relaxation is mentioned there.
Still wrong? Email info@njp.gov.pk with the job title, advert details and a screenshot. Questions about degree equivalence may need to go to the employer department.
After you apply: shortlisting and status
NJP only provides the platform and technical support. The recruiting department checks eligibility, shortlists candidates and makes the hiring decision. Many adverts state that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and that no TA/DA is paid for tests or interviews, so keep your phone and email active and check the advert's instructions.
Fees and scam warning
NJP states that registration and applications are free and that it charges no application fee. Always read each advert's own instructions carefully. Be wary of:
look-alike websites or apps with names similar to NJP; the official address is njp.gov.pk;
agents or "officers" asking for money to guarantee selection or move your file;
WhatsApp messages with job offers you never applied for.
No genuine government recruitment requires a payment to an individual for selection.
