This is a hands-on leadership position that blends software architecture, AI strategy, and team mentorship. The person selected will direct a growing artificial intelligence team while developing next-generation capabilities, including personalized experiences, agentic systems, Model Context Protocol initiatives, and AI-driven product innovations. The ideal applicant has successfully built and scaled production-ready artificial intelligence solutions, steered technical visions, and remains actively engaged in prototyping and software coding.
Responsibilities
- Define technical direction and architecture for artificial intelligence features across the product ecosystem
- Design and construct scalable artificial intelligence solutions such as agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, personalization, knowledge representation, and customer experiences
- Set reusable patterns and standards for context management, prompts, memory, orchestration, and evaluation
- Build prototypes and reference implementations while staying hands-on with software coding
- Incorporate artificial intelligence functionality across Java, Go, Node.js, and .NET platforms
- Assess emerging infrastructure, frameworks, and artificial intelligence technologies to make build-versus-buy choices
- Collaborate with product and platform engineering teams to transition artificial intelligence concepts into production
- Offer design reviews, architectural guidance, and practical support to engineering teams
- Investigate new use cases including agent harnesses, personalized content generation, and Model Context Protocol
- Pinpoint practical artificial intelligence opportunities that deliver measurable business and customer value
- Participate in technical due diligence and capability assessments for potential acquisitions
- Create best practices for hosting, model selection, data privacy, tenant isolation, and responsible development
- Coordinate with legal, information security, IT, and platform engineering teams to meet regulatory and compliance standards
Requirements
- Have at least 7 years of software engineering background with substantial architecture and technical leadership duties
- Demonstrate proven experience in building, scaling, and deploying production machine learning, artificial intelligence, retrieval-augmented generation, or agentic systems
- Possess a deep understanding of modern artificial intelligence architecture including large language model applications, knowledge graphs, evaluation frameworks, ontologies, and context management
- Show experience with agentic artificial intelligence, agent orchestration, Model Context Protocol initiatives, and agent harnesses
- Bring experience utilizing vector databases, graph databases, semantic data models, and knowledge representation frameworks
- Maintain a strong hands-on software engineering background and the capability to stay actively involved in coding
- Demonstrate experience steering technical strategy, architecture choices, and artificial intelligence roadmaps
- Be capable of operating across multiple technology stacks and integrating artificial intelligence into existing platforms
- Exhibit strong communication and collaboration abilities with executive and technical stakeholders
- Be comfortable working in fast-paced, changing software-as-a-service environments
- Hold authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Experience designing artificial intelligence systems using semantic search, knowledge graphs, ontologies, and retrieval-augmented generation architectures
- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, or Python
- Experience with AWS and AWS Bedrock
- Experience with evaluation platforms like LangFuse, LangSmith, Braintrust, or comparable tools
- Background as a consultant, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, architect, startup leader, or innovation lab contributor
- Experience performing technical due diligence or assessing acquisition targets
- Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, or wealth management
- Experience supporting artificial intelligence initiatives inside private-equity-backed or high-growth software-as-a-service organizations
