Emergent Software is facilitating a direct hire for a fully remote Lead Software Engineer position with one of its clients. This role suits an experienced engineering leader who wants end-to-end product ownership of a rapidly expanding SaaS platform. The person in this position will take charge of architecture, development, infrastructure, reliability, and long-term scaling as the platform grows by hundreds of customers every month. The ideal candidate enjoys a hands-on approach, combining technical decision-making and coding with leadership responsibilities.
The successful applicant will guide the delivery of the product roadmap, collaborate closely with the Product team, set engineering standards through design reviews, and mentor other engineers or coordinate contractors. Core responsibilities include managing Kubernetes deployments, advancing security and SOC 2 readiness initiatives, building enterprise features and dashboards, and modernizing workflows using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities
- Manage architecture, code quality, infrastructure, and production reliability for the platform
- Oversee Kubernetes-based deployments, scalability, observability, and release workflows
- Partner with the Product team to plan the roadmap and manage technical tradeoffs
- Establish engineering standards through code and design reviews
- Mentor engineers and coordinate contractor resources
- Drive engineering tasks related to SOC 2 compliance readiness and secure development practices
- Develop enterprise features, customer dashboards, and platform integrations
- Incorporate AI-assisted development tools and automated workflows
Requirements
- At least six years of professional software engineering experience
- Prior experience taking ownership of a production SaaS platform
- Hands-on technical background using Go, C#, or Java, alongside React, Kubernetes, REST APIs, and AWS architecture
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, support, and scale production systems
- Experience leading a small technical workstream or engineering team
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
Qualifications
- Experience with MySQL
- Familiarity with compliance, security, and authentication standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or OAuth
- Background building software for regulated sectors including financial services, insurance, or healthcare
- Proficiency with CI/CD, observability tools, and infrastructure-as-code
- Experience supporting enterprise clients and shipping custom solutions
- Familiarity with AI-enabled software development life cycle improvements
