The company is currently seeking a remote Billing Operations Lead to oversee the complete billing lifecycle across Marketplace retailers. This position suits an analytical professional who can manage accurate invoicing, enforce financial controls, and lead month-end close procedures. The person in this role will act as a primary anchor for the billing department, coordinating closely with internal departments such as Finance, Business Development, Legal, Product, and Engineering.
This is a remote position utilizing a Flex First work model, permitting candidates to work from home or another preferred location within specific U.S. states. Please note that this job cannot be performed from California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, or Washington. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical abilities with leadership skills to mentor junior team members, optimize billing workflows, and scale operations as the business expands.
Responsibilities
- Manage billing portfolios across strategic retail partners and multiple revenue streams while directing daily billing operations
- Develop and sustain billing policies, standard operating procedures, and quality benchmarks
- Collaborate with Finance Systems, Business Development, and Revenue teams to resolve billing discrepancies and escalations
- Build reporting dashboards and track key performance indicators to monitor billing health and proactively spot problems
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to scope and implement billing system upgrades, integrations, and automation tools
- Enforce internal controls, audit standards, and contractual billing terms while mentoring junior staff members
Requirements
- At least five years of professional background in Billing Operations, Order-to-Cash, or Accounts Receivable within ecommerce, subscription, SaaS, technology, or marketplace sectors
- Minimum of two years directing cross-functional billing or quote-to-cash projects as an individual contributor through user acceptance testing and launch
- Practical experience utilizing Salesforce CPQ alongside at least one billing platform and one enterprise resource planning system
- Solid proficiency in Excel including pivot tables and lookups, plus basic SQL skills for data analysis and reconciliations
- Familiarity with billing controls, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and revenue recognition guidelines affecting invoicing and adjustments
- Ability to work remotely from any authorized U.S. state outside of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- Proven capability using data modeling platforms like Alteryx to automate billing workflows
- Demonstrated success applying artificial intelligence solutions to enhance billing operations
