The first ninety days will focus on relationship building, assessing existing analytics tools, and planning the integration of automated workflows. Within six months, the leader will begin executing these technological upgrades while taking full ownership of reserve governance and bid frameworks. Ultimately, this leadership role aims to establish a cutting-edge actuarial unit that drives corporate decision-making and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Manage the enterprise actuarial division encompassing pricing, forecasting, reserving, medical economics, Part D, Stars analytics, and bid strategy.
- Formulate and implement the long-term vision for modernizing the actuarial practice through automation, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence.
- Design and deploy AI-enabled workflows that preserve regulatory compliance, transparency, and governance while accelerating insights.
- Oversee the annual Medicare Advantage bid strategy and pricing processes to balance growth, financial margins, competitiveness, and capital needs.
- Take full accountability for reserve adequacy, actuarial opinions, and related regulatory standards, absorbing duties previously held by outside partners.
- Guide reserving practices, IBNR calculations, forecasting models, and emerging financial experience reviews.
- Partner closely with finance leadership to reinforce enterprise performance measurement, planning, capital management, and forecasting.
- Collaborate with the medical economics team to spot healthcare cost trends and evaluate clinical interventions.
- Mentor, scale, and develop a high-performing team of actuarial professionals while overseeing workforce capacity and organizational design.
- Advise executives by translating complex mathematical concepts into straightforward business recommendations.
Requirements
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries credential
- Member of the American Academy of Actuaries designation
