Affirm is a financial technology company that provides clear and predictable payment solutions for consumers with no hidden fees. The organization is currently hiring a remote Compliance Manager, Card to oversee compliance advisory functions specifically for the Affirm Card program.

In this position, the professional will manage regulatory advisory work from end to end across card onboarding, marketing, wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, servicing, and disputes. The role suits an independent strategist who thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and can collaborate effectively with Engineering, Product, and Operations departments throughout the product lifecycle.

Key duties involve navigating novel regulatory questions using sound judgment under UDAAP, TILA, and EFTA, reviewing user experience and marketing materials, and performing root-cause analysis for card compliance issues to establish sustainable fixes. The person stepping into this job will also prepare for bank audits and regulatory exams, manage risk assessments, and develop internal training materials.

Compensation includes a base salary determined by location and experience, alongside equity awards, monthly stipends for wellness, tech, and health, and 100% subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their dependents. Affirm operates on a remote-first model within the country of employment, though new hires participate in an in-person onboarding experience.

  • Maintain the compliance risk assessment and control inventory for the card program to identify and resolve coverage gaps
  • Design and update reference documents and training materials focused on card regulations
  • Act as the primary compliance authority for new and evolving card features by identifying risks early in the development cycle

Requirements

  • Over 8 years of compliance advisory experience in financial services with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master's degree, or 3+ years with a PhD
  • Extensive working knowledge of EFTA (Reg E), TILA (Reg Z), and the CARD Act concerning card products
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in fast-paced and ambiguous environments with incomplete information
  • Track record of taking ownership of issues from root-cause analysis to durable remediation
  • Verbal and written communication skills suitable for presenting complex regulatory topics to non-compliance stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Meaningful experience working specifically on card and payments programs
  • Familiarity with UDAAP and TISA (Reg DD)
  • Hands-on background with card network rules including Visa and Mastercard
  • Compliance certifications
