Mozilla is looking for a Contract Staff Software Engineer with a focus on Performance Graphics to support the ongoing development of the Firefox browser. This contract position centers on maintaining the graphics subsystems of Firefox, covering rendering, compositing, images, canvas, and WebGL. The incoming professional will handle routine engineering duties to ensure the graphics codebase remains stable and healthy.

By taking ownership of day-to-day maintenance, bug fixes, regressions, and test upkeep, this position allows senior full-time engineering staff to concentrate their efforts on performance optimization. Responsibilities
- Manage daily graphics maintenance tasks including bug fixes, regression resolutions, and test maintenance
- Investigate and resolve graphics issues across multiple operating systems such as Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
- Conduct code reviews and handle routine engineering upkeep to support the broader team
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in C++ and/or Rust programming languages
- Understanding of GPU architecture and graphics frameworks
- Experience with debugging and performance optimization within multithreaded codebases
- Ability to operate independently and provide technical leadership in a large and mature codebase
Qualifications
