Zoox is seeking a contract student worker to support fleet maps validation as part of its student worker program. Zoox develops purpose-built, fully electric and bidirectional robotaxis designed for autonomous ridehailing, operating in Las Vegas and San Francisco with testing across seven US markets and expansion planned for Austin and Miami. The selected individual will join an execution-oriented team to build and maintain automated validation and release gating pipelines for off-board software and mapping components.
This opportunity is suited for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students who possess a strong software engineering foundation and a passion for robotics, machine learning, and mobility technology. This position is structured as a contract role through a third-party vendor rather than an internship, and it does not guarantee a pathway to permanent employment. Workers will engage directly with engineering teams on meaningful projects that complement their academic studies.
The position requires a full-time commitment of forty hours per week for at least three months, performed on-site at a Zoox office location. Applicants must comply with strict confidentiality policies regarding proprietary company information.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated release gating and continuous validation pipelines for cloud software and mapping components
- Establish automated test metrics, strategies, and quality gates for framework-level and component-level validation
- Investigate build and pipeline failures, set up regression test suites, and coordinate with downstream teams to ensure release readiness
- Analyze large datasets using strong analytical capabilities to spot trends and issues
- Create triage logic and reporting workflows to highlight key problems
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a relevant field
- Able to work a minimum of forty hours per week
- Available for a three-month minimum assignment duration
- Able to work on-site at a company office location
- Proficient in Python with a solid software engineering background
- Must agree to abide by company confidentiality obligations and restrict sharing of proprietary details
Qualifications
- Practical experience creating test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and automated gating for cloud or off-board systems
- Background in building test automation specifically for cloud software validation
