The company is currently hiring a Corporate Counsel, Product & Privacy to serve as an independent legal advisor specializing in the intersection of AI-powered technology, data privacy, security, and customer protection.
In this position, the attorney will collaborate closely with product, engineering, security, marketing, sales, and customer success divisions to embed legal compliance into product lifecycles. Key focus areas include artificial intelligence governance, global privacy programs, telecommunications regulatory coordination, security partnerships, and commercial enablement.
This opportunity is well-suited for a legal professional with extensive background in privacy and product counseling within the technology sector. The individual will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel. While the preferred base for this role is the San Francisco, California office, applicants should note that the position is structured as on-site.

Responsibilities
- Advise product and engineering groups on privacy-by-design and artificial intelligence governance throughout the entire product lifecycle
- Develop and maintain legal guidelines addressing AI training data, large language model usage, model governance, and compliance with the EU AI Act, United States state AI laws, and Federal Trade Commission guidance
- Support global privacy operations including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, HIPAA, and biometric privacy laws like BIPA
- Administer data subject access requests, manage data protection impact assessments, maintain records of processing activities, and handle cross-border transfer mechanisms
- Act as on-call counsel for data security incidents, handling breach responses and required notifications
- Partner with telecommunications and regulatory counsel regarding call recording, consent frameworks, transcription features, AI notetaking, and wiretap-adjacent legal questions
- Collaborate with security and governance teams on certifications such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI, and HIPAA
- Assist with data processing agreement and business associate agreement negotiations, and support sales and marketing teams on regulatory compliance
- Participate in the Patent Review Board, handle litigation holds, and contribute to internal policies and record-retention practices
Requirements
- Possess five to eight or more years of substantive privacy, product counseling, and regulatory experience
- Hold a Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school
- Maintain an active license in good standing to practice law in at least one United States state
- Demonstrate working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and HIPAA, including privacy-by-design principles and cross-border data transfer mechanisms
- Show familiarity with artificial intelligence legal frameworks and FTC priorities
- Bring experience advising product and engineering teams directly by translating complex regulations into clear instructions for non-legal personnel
- Show prior experience supporting incident response and breach notifications under state laws or GDPR
Qualifications
- Prior experience working at a law firm with a technology or privacy practice, alongside in-house tenure at a SaaS or technology enterprise
- Background in FCC, TCPA, VoIP regulation, call recording, or voice-AI compliance
- Possession of a CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or equivalent privacy certification
