The organization is currently seeking a Data Architect to design and establish the enterprise business intelligence analytics platform.
This hands-on position requires strong engineering discipline and deep technical expertise to shape data standards, implement security measures, and ensure information reliability. The professional in this role will build foundational architecture such as the Medallion pattern, establish column-level data lineage, manage sensitive information like PII under strict regulatory frameworks, and define service-level agreements for data products. This individual will partner closely with business leaders, analysts, and software engineers to create durable data models, review schema changes, and enforce rigorous engineering practices including continuous integration and infrastructure as code.
Candidates should thrive in a collaborative and dynamic environment, using technical influence and structured decision-making to guide architecture evolution. This is a full-time remote role with competitive compensation, extensive healthcare coverage, family leave, flexible time off, retirement plan contributions, and remote workspace stipends.
Responsibilities
- Design the architecture for the business intelligence analytics platform utilizing patterns such as the Medallion model for raw, conformed, and business-ready layers
- Establish end-to-end column-level data lineage supported by a maintained catalog and business glossary
- Classify sensitive data and implement privacy controls including tagging, masking, row access policies, and role-based access control
- Define service-level agreements, service-level objectives, and freshness targets for data products along with corresponding monitoring and alerting
- Architect ingestion, transformation, and orchestration patterns that handle failure, backfills, and late-arriving data idempotently
- Manage schema design reviews, versioning, and change management processes
- Partner with analytics, engineering, legal, security, and compliance teams on audits, access reviews, and data models
- Enforce version control, code reviews, continuous integration and deployment, and automated testing across the platform
- Draft architecture decision records and design documents detailing trade-offs
- Mentor data engineers and analytics engineers through reviews, written guidance, and hands-on collaboration
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or data warehousing
- At least 3 years of accountable experience working as a data architect
- Expert level proficiency in SQL
- Working fluency in Python
- Extensive production experience operating Snowflake at scale, including role-based access control, masking, row access policies, object tagging, and resource monitors
- Deep expertise in dimensional Kimball modeling and normalized modeling
- Hands-on background handling data classification, minimization, masking, retention, and deletion compliant with regulations such as CCPA, GDPR, or SOC 2
- Demonstrated history of defining and meeting data service-level agreements with established monitoring and incident response
Qualifications
- Experience using dbt
- Experience with Terraform
- Familiarity with data orchestrators such as Airflow or Dagster
- Background utilizing data catalog tools including Atlan, Alation, Collibra, or DataHub
