This role involves designing and managing the data model for a specific business area, setting data definitions, and ensuring trust in analytical outputs through rigorous validation and monitoring. Responsibilities
- Own the data model, entities, granularity, dimensional models, metrics, and definitions for a designated business area
- Collaborate directly with stakeholders to co-own and define key performance indicators and handle ongoing work priorities
- Establish validation rules and monitoring to catch data issues before dashboards or stakeholders are affected
- Handle data incidents end-to-end by finding causes, explaining business impacts, implementing fixes, and adding preventive tests
- Document models, build shared glossaries, and generate reusable AI context for the wider department
Requirements
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a comparable data function
- In-depth expertise in dimensional modelling principles including grain, keys, and slowly changing dimensions
- Advanced SQL and query optimisation capabilities using cloud or MPP data warehouses such as BigQuery or Vertica
- Practical experience with dbt for transformation and modelling alongside orchestration tools like Airflow or Cloud Composer
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
Qualifications
- Daily utilisation of agentic AI assistants for software development and analysis with strong context-writing capabilities
- Proficiency in Python for automation and lightweight services
- Familiarity with data contracts, testing frameworks, or data observability tools
- Prior background operating as an embedded reference data specialist within a business team
- Experience working with semantic or metric layers consumed by business intelligence tools and AI agents
- Background in travel, online travel agency (OTA), marketplace, or other high-volume transactional industries
