Job Description
Airalo operates the world's premier eSIM platform, providing affordable mobile data to millions of global travelers spanning more than 200 regions and countries. Established as a globally distributed organization with a team exceeding 400 individuals across over 60 countries, the company fosters an environment driven by autonomy, trust, and minimal bureaucracy. To support ongoing scaling, Airalo is hiring a Director, Enterprise IT to create and manage a new internal technology department.
This role serves as a combined build-and-run position overseeing both daily IT operations and foundational corporate business systems. The selected leader will directly manage an established IT Operations team of five people handling service desks, endpoint management, networking, and identity access. Furthermore, this individual will act as the primary technical owner for an enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform implementation, subsequently expanding the corporate application footprint and building out an Enterprise Applications team over time.
The position requires an experienced professional capable of establishing foundational governance, managing vendor relationships, and steering organizational change as disparate business tools transition to centralized management. Candidates must be comfortable operating without a pre-existing playbook and possess a pragmatic approach to balancing rigorous compliance standards with smooth employee user experiences. The position operates on a full-time employment basis with remote work options available.
Responsibilities
- Manage the existing IT Operations team and team lead to establish performance priorities, service levels, and a structured split between build and run initiatives
- Oversee service desk metrics, incident resolution, request handling, and overall employee satisfaction
- Direct endpoint device management, including operating system and software update policies designed to minimize user disruption while maintaining security compliance
- Administer identity, single sign-on, and access provisioning or offboarding as a consolidated control point while automating onboarding and offboarding workflows
- Act as the accountable owner for the ERP platform, covering system configuration, workflow creation, maintenance, and the final stages of vendor selection
- Design key ERP configuration areas encompassing financial consolidation, budgeting, forecasting, master data, and integrations with related systems
- Supervise the systems integrator or implementation partner to ensure adherence to scope, budget, quality standards, and timelines
- Implement change control, testing protocols, and release procedures for the ERP platform from the outset, alongside an L1 through L3 post-go-live support framework
- Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, data flows, and integration architecture
- Enforce IT general controls, segregation of duties monitoring, and audit evidence collection to support financial controls and compliance certifications
- Direct disaster recovery, backup operations, and resilience frameworks for corporate platforms while collaborating with security teams on access and device trust policies
- Coordinate with the data team regarding platform and access control ownership while leaving reporting and analytics under data team governance
- Establish safety guardrails, access parameters, and tool selections for corporate artificial intelligence usage
- Hire, structure, and mentor an Enterprise Applications team over time, adding initial leadership roles
- Define roadmaps and lifecycle strategies for incorporating additional SaaS tools like HR, finance, and CRM systems under enterprise IT management
- Handle vendor relationships, software licenses, and SaaS renewals while consolidating redundant tooling and managing departmental budgets
- Guide organizational transition from decentralized departmental tools to centrally governed corporate systems without stripping business functions of process ownership
Requirements
- Senior leadership experience managing an enterprise applications or IT function within a scaling enterprise, including experience managing other managers
- Direct experience leading an ERP implementation from the employer side, including systems integrator oversight
- End-to-end management experience covering configuration, support, and continuous improvement of a core business system
- Practical experience running IT operations encompassing service desks, endpoint management, mobile device management, identity protocols, and single sign-on within a SaaS-first infrastructure
- Demonstrated background establishing and operating IT controls such as IT General Controls, segregation of duties, and audits in finance-critical settings
- Experience leading organizational change initiatives to shift business units onto shared ownership models while preserving internal trust
- Ability to operate autonomously without a large existing staff or predetermined playbook, building processes, governance, and documentation from scratch
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities working directly with operations, finance, and other business units
- Commercial acumen and vendor management proficiency
- Strong communication skills capable of translating complex technical configurations into business outcomes
- Pragmatic approach to compliance and control that prioritizes employee experience over workarounds
Qualifications
- Hands-on configuration and administration experience with major ERP platforms such as SAP, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, or Oracle
- Experience with financial consolidation, forecasting, or budgeting modules and related platform certifications
- Involvement in ERP vendor selection processes including business case development, evaluations, and demonstrations
- Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2, or SOX regulatory environments
- Exposure to enterprise application categories outside of ERP such as HRIS, CRM, collaboration suites, and identity access management
- Background building or scaling compact technology teams through role design and hiring
- Experience deploying corporate artificial intelligence tools
- Experience working within remote or geographically distributed teams
- Background in high-growth, private equity-backed, or newly scaling businesses
