ALTEN Technology USA seeks an Embedded Linux / High-Compute Engineer for a full-time, remote position. In this role, the professional will sustain software for production automotive electronic control units. The main focus involves managing component changes such as obsolete parts, memory swaps, and second sources that impact electronic control unit software or manufacturing tests, as well as supporting production at the contract manufacturer.
The ideal candidate will take over existing codebases, implement and validate necessary updates, and document the procedures so operations can run independently. This position suits an experienced engineer capable of handling automotive change control and bench debugging. Qualified individuals will work autonomously, author standard operating procedures, and navigate complex embedded environments.
Responsibilities
- Manage component modifications affecting electronic control unit software or manufacturing tests
- Support production operations at contract manufacturers by deploying test updates and debugging line failures
- Analyze yield data to troubleshoot issues
- Evaluate whether hardware component changes necessitate software adjustments
- Execute and validate software updates through to completion
- Take over existing software codebases
- Draft standard operating procedures and runbooks
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in automotive embedded software
- Demonstrated experience supporting production at a contract manufacturer
- Familiarity with automotive change control processes including PPAP, DV/PV, and deviations
- Experience with hands-on bench debugging utilizing standard lab tools
- Background working with Embedded Linux on automotive systems-on-chip
- Experience with storage bring-up covering partitioning, device trees, and boot flows
- Proficiency with Yocto or similar builds, continuous integration pipelines, and multi-repository workflows
- Familiarity with secure boot and signed-image mechanisms
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
Qualifications
- Experience with QNX or Android operating systems
- Familiarity with Qualcomm, NXP i.MX, or NVIDIA platforms
- Prior experience taking over legacy codebases featuring sparse documentation
