ALTEN Technology USA seeks an MCU & Manufacturing Test Engineer for a remote, full-time position. In this role, the engineer will manage production automotive Electronic Control Unit software and assist contract manufacturers.
This position focuses on sustaining software when component updates occur, such as obsolete parts, memory swaps, and second sources that impact manufacturing tests or ECU software. Candidates will adopt existing codebases, execute and validate modifications, and produce documentation so the procedures operate independently. This opportunity suits professionals with automotive embedded software experience who can handle bench debugging, manufacturing support, and automotive change control processes.
Responsibilities
- Sustain software for production automotive electronic control units
- Manage component changes including obsolete parts, memory swaps, and second sources that influence ECU software or manufacturing tests
- Support production operations at contract manufacturers
- Take over existing codebases to implement and validate updates
- Document processes to ensure independent execution
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in automotive embedded software
- Experience supporting production at a contract manufacturer by deploying test updates, debugging line failures, and reviewing yield data
- Ability to evaluate if a component update requires a software modification and carry it through validation
- Familiarity with automotive change control including PPAP, DV/PV, and deviations
- Hands-on bench debugging proficiency utilizing standard lab equipment
- Ability to work independently and author standard operating procedures or runbooks
- Expertise in microcontroller firmware using bare-metal or RTOS
- Knowledge of flash, EEPROM, memory drivers, bootloaders, and JTAG debug
- Experience with end-of-line test sequences, test limits, and flashing stations such as NI TestStand
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and flashing including UDS, CAN, and automotive Ethernet
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening as a condition of hire
