Job Description
This Engagement Manager position is based with Turing Intelligence, the unit that delivers production AI systems to large banks, capital markets firms, asset managers, and insurers. The manager's supervisor is the Head of AI Delivery. The role is hybrid, with some onsite days at client locations in New York City.
The manager is responsible for an engagement from contract signature through go-live, adoption, and renewal. The job is positioned as account-level delivery leadership rather than project management or engineering. The person acts as the client's everyday senior contact, chairs steering committees, and answers for scope, schedule, profitability, and growth. Regulated-industry hurdles such as model governance, security reviews, data location rules, and procurement are to be built into the plan from the outset.
Leadership duties include directing AI Engagement Leads and Forward Deployed Engineers, and setting quality standards together with the engineering lead. Under the two-in-a-box arrangement, this manager owns delivery and margin, while a commercial partner owns the client relationship and revenue. Coding is not expected, but the manager must understand models and architecture well enough to scope work and challenge plans.
Candidates need a minimum of eight years of experience facing clients in delivery or advisory roles, including three years running financial services accounts. A background shipping an AI, machine learning, or data platform initiative into a large company is necessary. Pay is described as a base salary plus bonus and equity; no figures appear in the listing.
Responsibilities
- Act as the client's everyday senior point of contact and run steering committees and executive briefings
- Shape statements of work with scope, milestones, dependencies, acceptance tests, and value targets agreed before signing
- Coordinate staffing, risk and dependency tracking, decision records, and client communications
- Control the engagement's profit and loss, including staffing mix, utilization, change requests, and forecasts
- Spot growth opportunities such as added use cases, follow-on contracts, and renewals
- Guide delivery leads and engineers, and document reusable playbooks and estimating models
Requirements
- Eight-plus years of client delivery or advisory work, including three years leading financial services accounts
- Proven management of account economics: margin, forecasting, staffing, change requests, and renewals
- Background bringing an AI, ML, or data-platform initiative live inside a large company
- Senior presence, including chairing steering committees and managing executive sponsors
- Technical understanding of architecture diagrams and LLM-based system evaluation, without hands-on coding
- Lives in the New York metro region and can work at client sites several days weekly
Qualifications
- Experience at a tech consultancy, a systems integrator, an AI-native delivery company, or inside a bank's or insurer's tech or data unit
- Knowledge of banking and insurance regulation, including model governance, security and third-party risk, and privacy and data residency
- Previous work in tandem with a commercial account owner
