Job Description
This is a full-time, remote Engineering Manager role leading a group that delivers a Ceph-based software-defined storage product. The team's aim is to help people store data on commodity hardware in open source storage in a way that is safe, inexpensive and simple. The product should be straightforward to install, administer and operate, whether in big enterprise data centres or on small edge sites with half a rack of hardware.
The manager assembles and runs an engineering group spread across the globe, growing people through coaching, mentoring and feedback. The role includes contributing directly toward team goals, planning timelines from careful estimates that are refined through feedback, and clarifying expectations for peer engineering groups and outside stakeholders. The manager promotes modern agile practices and a culture of quality, testing and documentation, and helps grow a collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values. The manager also takes part in the company's leadership team. Travel for internal and external events is up to 20% of time.
