Swiggy is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Data Platform team in Bengaluru. This position sits at the center of streaming infrastructure, lakehouse architecture, data warehousing, and governance. The group manages foundational systems that facilitate real-time and batch data movement across the company, including CDC connectors, ingestion pipelines, storage, orchestration, and access control. These systems enable analytics, product engineering, and machine learning teams to utilize timely, trusted, and well-governed data.
This is a leadership role combining hands-on technical depth, systems architecture, and execution capabilities. The manager will guide a team responsible for scaling core data infrastructure across tools like Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake, and AWS. Responsibilities include resolving reliability and scale challenges, driving day-to-day pipeline health, improving cost-efficiency, establishing data protection and access control standards, and building automation to prevent recurring production issues. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical background in lakehouse architecture and streaming infrastructure, experience leading data platform engineers, and the ability to design durable platform capabilities rather than temporary fixes.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor data platform engineers while establishing strong standards for technical quality, ownership, and execution
- Lead incident and escalation response for high-severity data platform issues, including stakeholder communication and war-room coordination
- Improve streaming and batch data platform reliability, schema compatibility enforcement, and production-readiness gates
- Automate monitoring, alerting, and self-healing for connectors to move away from manual debugging
- Strengthen data access governance through attribute-based access control, row-level security, and secure data-sharing patterns
- Build observability frameworks and platform tooling for cost visibility, infrastructure health, and capacity planning
- Collaborate with engineering, analytics, ML, and product teams to define standards across ingestion, warehousing, and secure data delivery
Requirements
- 8 to 10 years of professional experience
- Hands-on background in streaming infrastructure, platform-level system design, and data warehousing or lakehouse architecture
- Experience managing data platform engineers across cross-functional execution, stakeholder management, and incident response
- Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming, AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks
- Experience designing large-scale CDC pipelines or integrating reliability controls into CI/CD and schema registries
