Bosch is seeking a professional for the Cost Engineering & Benchmarking - MAE position located in Bengaluru. This full-time, on-site role focuses on developing target cost models for automation systems, manufacturing equipment, assembly and testing equipment, and fixtures. The successful candidate will examine technical MAE concepts, blueprints, layouts, specifications, and vendor quotations to pinpoint major cost drivers and set benchmarks. Responsibilities also include assessing manufacturing processes and equipment concepts through value engineering, conducting teardown analyses, performing competitor product studies, and estimating product and component costs for both greenfield and brownfield projects. Additional duties involve supplier discussions, predicting assembly sequences, analyzing material and design features, and maintaining a holistic view of cost engineering procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain target cost models for manufacturing equipment, automation systems, assembly and testing equipment, and fixtures
- Analyze technical MAE concepts, specifications, layouts, drawings, and supplier quotations to isolate cost drivers and establish benchmarks
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment concepts from a cost and value engineering perspective
- Perform competitor product studies and product/component cost estimations for greenfield and brownfield projects including sales price, Design to Cost, negotiation calculations, and RPP
- Conduct teardown analyses examining manufacturing processes, design features, and materials
- Predict assembly techniques and sequences while performing product comparisons and detailed documentation
- Engage in supplier interactions and vendor discussions
- Propose process improvement ideas using problem-solving and analytical capabilities
Requirements
- Possess 7 to 12 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes with exposure to at least one core process such as machining, forging, or casting
- Read drawings and apply knowledge of GD&T
- Understand measurement techniques and product development cycles
- Comprehend product cost structures
- Use Microsoft Excel and presentation software effectively
- Apply good communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering
- Familiarity with mechanical and electronic systems, specifically electro-mechanical components
- Knowledge of Generative AI and digitalization tools
- Familiarity with tool design and manufacturing for molds, casting, and press tools
- Exposure to competitor tracking
