Job Description
This is a full-time, remote Engineering Manager role for a team that optimises Ubuntu for public cloud platforms. The team works with Amazon, Microsoft and Google, along with other cloud partners to build, test and publish the base Ubuntu images that many users rely on. The aim is a strong virtual machine experience on each cloud, along with specialised images for particular purposes.
The manager heads engineers working in their own and similar time zones and speaks for the team in day-to-day partner discussions. Architectural leadership and code reviews are part of the work, and the manager creates dependable, automated pipelines for shipping, testing and publishing images. Travel for internal and external events is up to 15% of time.
The team works in Python and Golang, and the manager is expected to be fluent in the languages, architecture and components the team builds with. They should be knowledgeable about software development and committed to agile methodologies, with effective written and verbal communication.
