This is a full-time, remote Engineering Manager role for web engineering at Canonical, based in the EMEA region. The manager leads a team that builds dependable, scalable interfaces that serve Canonical's product users, working with product managers and other engineering groups across the organisation.
The role is first and foremost about the people on the team: helping engineers grow, ensuring they do valuable work and enjoy their time at the company. The posting asks for firm technical leadership, grounding in web development, and experience writing high-grade web code. Experience with and enthusiasm for TypeScript, React or Flutter is needed, along with attention to accessibility and performance. Linux experience, ideally Debian or Ubuntu, is preferred. Strong communication and presentation skills, an academic record that shows drive, and a degree in computing or a STEM subject, or a compelling alternative route, are also expected. Canonical describes itself as founder-led and profitable, and the role involves trips of up to two weeks, two times annually, for company events.
