Welo Global is seeking an experienced English into Maltese Review Lead for a remote freelance engagement. The company delivers multilingual AI, technology, and content solutions across five specialized brands to thousands of clients worldwide. In this role, you will act as the primary language quality owner and client-facing linguistic expert for a prominent global technology client.
You will be responsible for overseeing the Maltese locale's interpretation of quality standards, guiding post editors and reviewers, and serving as the main point of contact for the client Language Manager on escalations and arbitration. This contract position anticipates an expected volume of approximately 24 hours per month. Qualified candidates must reside in one of the approved countries listed in the posting and will undergo a background check.
Responsibilities
- Analyze style guide and glossary updates to assess affected quality categories and content types
- Track client corrections and feedback from calibration and quality calls
- Run regular alignment roundtables and publish monthly quality digests
- Coach reviewers one-to-one using specific examples and lead shadowing sessions
- Convert recurring justification patterns into style guide proposals
- Manage the review service score, RQE audits, and alignment performance
- Maintain the integrity of arbitration records sent to the client
Requirements
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in Localization Quality Assurance, as a Senior Language Lead, or in quality governance roles
- Direct client and stakeholder management experience as a primary point of contact for client language managers
- Practical experience with localization evaluation frameworks including RQE, LQE, error rubrics, and severity mapping
- Ability to analyze style guide changes, implicit expectations, and content type tolerances
- Experience with one-to-one coaching, shadowing sessions, alignment roundtables, and monthly quality reporting
- Native-level proficiency in Maltese and professional-level English
- Must be physically located in one of the approved countries
- Must undergo a background check as part of onboarding
