Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger integrity including month-end journals, accruals, provisions, and period-end adjustments
- Lead month-end and year-end close procedures while ensuring prompt balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare statutory financial statements and assist with corporate and regional reporting obligations
- Manage direct and indirect tax compliance involving statutory filings and remittances
- Coordinate internal, external, tax, and regulatory audits alongside supplying necessary documentation
- Supervise fixed asset accounting such as capitalization, depreciation, disposals, impairments, and register maintenance
- Review and approve purchase requisitions, orders, and payment runs according to financial controls
- Interact with external stakeholders including banks, regulators, and tax authorities
- Partner with East Africa finance teams to support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury functions in Zambia
- Collaborate with the business partnering team for annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning
Requirements
- Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience
- At least three years of management experience within a busy finance function
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
- Proficiency in enterprise resource planning software such as SAP or SAGE
- In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Professional accounting qualification including CPA, ACCA, or CIMA
